ReviewForest — Trees for Reviews
In the ever-changing and fast-paced modern world, there are many things we can do to make it better. Being kind and courteous, especially on social media is one key action. The other is to be mindful of the environment and our impact upon it.
Sadly, we cannot go through life like we’re trying to walk through snow without leaving footprints. Our lives leave an indelible mark on the environment.
The best course of action is to offset our impact and give back to the environment. That’s true of us as people and us as a business.
I have been looking for a while for ways to ‘give back’ as a business and while there are many plans on the drawing board, the first is to join ReviewForest.
What is ReviewForest?
ReviewForest is an organisation that helps businesses get more reviews whilst also giving back to the planet. Every time someone leaves a review for us via Google a tree is planted in their name.
For every review placed on our Google account, we pay €5. Of that contribution, €4 goes to Plant-for-the-Planet, who plants a tree in the name of the reviewer. The extra €1 goes to their children’s academies.
Plant-for-the-Planet aims to plant 1 trillion trees worldwide. Currently, all trees planted via ReviewForest are planted in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. That location has been chosen as one that provides the best weather to stimulate optimum growth from the tree. If you plant it in the UK it may not have a similar environmental impact!
Currently, we can only use Google reviews with ReviewForest, but they are working on linking with Google My Business and Facebook to provide additional ways to leave reviews and get trees planted.
Why have we joined ReviewForest?
For us as a business, every time we complete a web design project or another service and get a review from a client, that review helps the environment.
As a business which works on computers, we rely on electricity both in the office and for servers to host our websites. We know that not all of that energy is green. By using ReviewForest we can offset some of the emissions we generate.
For some businesses, I can imagine that ReviewForest could be used as a gimmick or a way of boosting or tidying up their image. For me and my business, our environmental impact is important and ReviewForest helps us make a small difference.
How can I have a tree planted?
You can view our current forest and then there’s the option to leave a review. At the time of writing, we only have three lonely trees in our forest, as most of our reviews have previously been via Yell and Trustpilot. Sadly, we’re unable to link those reviews to ReviewForest.
Whilst ReviewForest is open for anyone to leave a review for us and have a tree planted in their name, it’s important that only past and present clients use it. If we were a shop or a company that sold products, we could actively advertise for reviews. As we are instead a service-based business, we can only welcome reviews from our clients.
So, that leaves you no choice but to reach out to us for help with a new website, email marketing or any of our other digital services. That way you can leave your review and get your tree planted!
