Work For Good — Donating With You
In our recent blog post about ReviewForest, we wrote about the commitments we as a business are making to give back.
Not only do we now plant a tree for every review our clients provide for us, but we are also now promising to donate 2.5% of everything we earn from web design to charity.
We’ve signed up to Work For Good and will use their service to allow us and our clients to give back every time they get their perfect website!
What is Work For Good?
Work For Good provides a simple way for businesses to donate to charity. Their platform makes it really easy for small businesses to create one-off donations or set up charity events linked to sales or services.
We have been looking for a while for a simple solution to allow us to give to charity. The issues we have faced are either limiting ourselves to one charity or working with a platform that’s not very user-friendly for clients.
Also, businesses need a Commercial Participation Agreement in place before they can raise money for charity. With Work For Good, you create a Commercial Participation Agreement with each charity you are supporting in just a few minutes.
It really does make donating easier for businesses. The process for our clients is even easier. They simply have to click on a link in an email, choose one charity and we do the rest.
How will we support Work For Good?
Every time a client pays an invoice for web design work or email marketing, we will set up a donation through Work For Good.
All we as a business have to do is choose which charities we want to support. We can either choose one charity for clients to donate to, provide a list of up to 10 for them to choose from or allow them to choose from any of the hundreds available.
We prefer the second option. We will provide a list of up to 10 charities to our clients. Some will be national charities, some will be local to us and our clients and some will be related to that client’s business.
By streamlining the charities available to each client it should mean we can help them find a charity that’s a perfect fit for them and their business. Ideally, our clients could then promote their donation on their social media accounts and encourage more donations from their clients or customers.
Once our clients have chosen a charity we handle payment. We take 2.5% of the invoice they have paid and make the payment via Work For Good to their chosen charity.
The whole process makes it really easy for us and our clients to donate. Watch our video below to see how easy it is.
What other ways do we support good causes?
As I said at the start, Work For Good is one aspect of our growing pledge to give back and support charities and our community.
Not only do we donate trees, but we have also previously been involved in supporting Shine, a charity that raises awareness of Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus. We have twice taken part in their annual charity balloon race and will support it for many more years to come!
In terms of supporting our local community, we are actively searching for opportunities to sponsor sports teams or events in our local area. We are looking for a team, a person or an event that the Tiny Blue Rocket branding would work well with and would get great exposure for our business. If you have any suggestions, please do get in touch.
Finally, we are currently applying to use the UK Government’s Kickstart Scheme. The scheme provides employment for 16 to 24-year-olds. It helps remove the risk of chronic youth unemployment and allows young people to develop new skills whilst getting vital job experience.
There may be new ways we support charities and our community as opportunities arise over time.
In summary
We are really pleased to be able to give back while we work. Being able to donate 2.5% of everything we earn allows us to know that we as a business are doing our bit to support others.
